They saw a waterfall in the woods. The mother bent down and whispered, “Listen!” They both paused right there and let the sounds seep in.  “What do you hear?” The little one knew.  She watched the white froth of bubbles and silk run over the rocks as she answered, “It’s talking!”  Surprised at the magic, the mother asked, still quietly, “What is it saying?” And the little one listened again, and again she knew.  “It’s talking song!” she exclaimed.  And they soaked in one more long moment of melody before they walked on.
