IMG_2900“Les, that license in your wallet, that’s not an ordinary piece of paper, that is a driver’s license, and its not only a driver’s license, it’s an automobile license, and it’s not only an automobile license, it’s a license to live, a license to be free, a license to go wherever, whenever and with whomever you choose.” “Dean” Corey Feldman in License to Drive, 1998

It’s official.  We can drive in BC.  We are incognito.  We can poke fun at the roads clogged with Alberta and Washington plates, those tourists. We can fake it ’til we make it as Islanders, as British Columbians.  We can swoop down Symonds Street, or Roberts Street, or the ‘Dogwood dip’ and look like we’re at home. We have proof of residence: we can get a library card.  That’s good, because I don’t have enough $avings to buy ALL THE BOOKS in the kids section at Chapters to keep Bug busy for a day or two.  I can’t believe how fast that kid reads.  And she reads in the car, so this is not a non-sequitur at all, see how there’s a theme?  Sure, sure. Anyway, I had to find a good reason to google quotes from a movie with the two Coreys, so here you have it.  Now, we’re off to circle the roundabouts and wonder who put pedestrians in charge of traffic lights.  Beep beep!
