to-do: adventures in shopping

Thu July 16 2009

now that we have the car {if you ever have to ship a car cross-country, Hansen’s are the folks to do it – we’re repeat customers, we should know!} we have some “shopping” to do! a statement that strikes fear in the heart wallet heart of Big Daddy, although we shop for things more on the “necessity” list than the “wish list” {much to The Bug’s dismay — you sure can’t please all of the people all of the time}.  anyway – on the list today are sheets, pillows, comforters, bed skirts etc for one BIG GIRL and her BIG GIRL BED {being actually a bed fit for a QUEEN}, drinking glasses for the kitchen and other things to make a house function day-to-day.  I do not have the best 2 year old shopper, so this is what will make it an ADVENTURE!  Wish me luck, won’t you {we have indeed left stores in the midst of carrying, wailing, lying on floors and running and dekeing around produce stands..}.

In the meantime, The Bug test drove her photographer skills one day as we walked through Cowichan Bay – see the world through the eyes of this 7 year old:

this bakery had what morgan considered THE BEST door ever – when the weather is nice they open the doors and have wooden beads hanging in the doorway – the very same ones I had as a teenager, and while i tried to pick and buy bread and cookies, morgan would THRASH the beads open and run through and laugh and turn around and WHIP them open again and teeter precariously on the step right next to the road and repeat… the girl inside said “someone’s mischevious!” you see why shopping is an ADVENTURE…

hey, she might be a photographer kid!

that’s it for now.  I am pretty impressed with her pictures, we will have to be sure to let her take that camera when we go places.  that’s the great thing about digital – she can take as many as she likes!  we have 140 more pictures that she took that have NOT been downloaded from the camera yet, so potentially more of Cowichan Bay to come.  Certainly some Ladysmith to come!
